  7.     Back in the '60s, when it seemed as if the whole world was
  8. listening to protest songs, the sweetest singer of all was Joan
  9. Baez. At 48 the queen of folk is still in fine bloom.
  10. Celebrating 30 years of performing with a new album (Speaking
  11. of Dreams), Quaker-raised Baez has changed her tune. "The core
  12. point of my life now is that it's a revelation to be able to
  13. sing and enjoy it and not have an ulterior motive when I get up
  14. in front of an audience," she says. And when she's "feeling
  15. playful," things get really rosy.
